Softwoods around half a ton per cube, moisture content is a bone of contention. Cutters like to be paid by the ton, hauliers/buyers like to pay for it by the ton, bun fights start when it’s sat for a month or two and dried.
Worth noting timber at the base of any tree is denser/heavier than that from higher up the trunk.

I've cut trees on my own woods, and took them into a couple of local sawmills.
They all use the Doyle scale for measurement and payment around here.
we do have 1 local firewood processor, but I don't know how it's measured for suppliers.
