little poll on Italian welders

In a range from 1 (not good at all) to 5 (very good),
how do you rate the following italian brands?
If possible, only first hand experiences!

Selco Genesis are great machines
Smoothest TIG I've used on thin aluminum.

I've got two Deca (badged SIP) MMA inverters which I've had for 5 and 2 years.

Don't forget that some of these companies make, or have made, ranges of equipment from buzz boxes and cheap MIGs to industrially rated welders at an industrial price, which complicates the poll. Deca describe their ranges of MMA inverters as Light Duty, Professional and Industrial. You'd have to match your rating against reasonable expectations.

Also, a lot of these companies don't sell in certain countries or don't sell there under their own name, or for one reason or another, don't sell their full range there.

You missed Awelco off the list. Some of those are badged Stanley.

Cemont? I'm pretty sure they were an Italian welder maker but were bought up by A-L and the machines are now made in Eastern Europe.

Too many bad experiences and had to draw a line

The old stel acdc tigs that were often badged murex were one of the best tigs in there day.

iv got a UNIMIG 205 poly craft mig welder and seems prity good only problem i had was the thermo copel fell of the main transformer from wheeling it across the yard on bumpy concret and the transformer over heated when doing some heavy welding.
i bought a bigger mig and a month later got round to rewinding the transformer which wasnt that hard it was the secondery winding that went i also put a much bigger fan in it

The Cebora Turbomig 130 I had for 20 years was as good when I sold it as the day I bought it, and it wasn't new then. I guess that's a 5.

5***** for my old cebora jaguar 200, single phase mig unit, with spool and gun facility. No faffing with changing liner and drive rolls, 2 euro sockets, one for bog standard mig whip, the other for spool and gun, only connection you had to change was the gas cylinder. I sold it to a mate, where I can still have access to plant, if required, win win situation.

My uncle possess a Cebora super vintage stick buzzzzzbox.
Little used, but zero problems nonetheless.
My father rates his Deca super vintage stick buzzzzzbox quite high.
Immortal machines. Line current sumps,too.

A lot of Italian is made for rebadging ie it has someone else name on it. Selco are very big on this

Do you know Ive forgot. I think the small inverters are Selco but the bigger ones are made by Lincoln............or were.....its 5 or 6 years ago since they dumped me

That wouldn't suprise me, thinking about it i've got a vague recollection that the US market v205-t is (or used to be) Hecho en Mexico? Mine was definately made in Italy and nailed together well enough to survive getting on for 16 years despite being dropped more than once

My first welder was a deca ac stick welder, small but weighs a ton, i have it years and it never let me down.
