Haven't done any stainless for a while and a lad at work wanted these welding so the pressure was on. Well I was really chuffed with them not perfect but I'm happy just a case of practice and more practice
cheers for the reply's im not finishing them with pickling past as i dont know what that is or does????? should i be??
no i dident purge them but they looked surprisingly good inside, yes i used a gas lens i got one around Christmas time never take it off i feel like you get so much more shielding with one i use it on everything not sure if you should but my welds got so much better(not saying there the best) with just using a gas lens i cant go back.
Pickling paste removes all the surface oxides and impurities on stainless steel
All those Pretty heat tinted colours would become shiny silver stainless steel. The idea is if those parts are to be subject to use where equivalent steel ones may rust or corrode the areas where you have welded and heat tinted will also rust and corrode.
Stainless isn't "stainless" or corrosion resistant until it's finished by oxide removal.
Regards purging with those I would of probably looked at a different alternative. Copper sleeve perhaps if the welds were full pen. Which ever way is done to protect the inside I wouldn't accept any coking (pet hate of mine)
