Lister LD 15

Hey dudes and dudettes, just stumbled across a lister LD 15 from an old homestead inside a collapsed shed,
(Another project) seems to be all there except for the fuel tank,it spins freely,the decompression seems ok and the fuel rack control moves ok also..but some of the oil lines and fuel lines are cut and folded over and I don’t why..,I figure that since it’s a British made engine a lot of you guys would have a Manuel on this little darling.
I think I got the starting procedure figured out and what to prime and oil before trying to start it but those cut oil lines got me worried.. any info on this gem would be appreciated. Thks in advance .cheers from across the pond..

looks like it was a Genset,it has some added accessories like an oil filter housing and the added linkage for throttling up under load..

If it was used to power a genny then the missing fuel tank might be because it was fed with diesel out of a raised, gravity-feed 45-gallon steel drum..

I've not seen oil, supplied from and external source but suspect for resourceful people out in the woods miles from civilization it's quite possible ... have a think about such things .

The fuel injector leak off pipes are sometimes made with a crimped end that could look like a cut off pipe, is this maybe what you're seeing ?

Yessir, that is 1of the lines I was talking about,the other 2 is on top of the oil filter housing possibly to feed other auxiliary add on equipment..

If there's no mechanical lift pump on the engine - then it was always a gravity-fed engine.
As has been said, Lister-Petter routinely crimped off the unused blank ends of fuel rails etc. As long as you have a Fuel IN, & a Fuel Return (often this didn't get fully returned to the gravity tank, but looped & spliced back into the feed line) that's all you need.
(I'd check, but I'm pretty certain that engine will have been designed to run on a monograde, low-spec mineral engine oil - typically an API CC spec. You can get 15w/40 multi grade in a CC/CD spec. Don't be tempted to "treat it" to "better" oil - it'll bore glaze, get piston blow-by & become an oil, smoky thing rapidly if you do... use the recommended stuff).

The generator end is missing but it still has the governor linkage and the shut down solenoid and this plate..interesting piece of history..to bad it’s not a complete unit..

Like to see a couple of pics of the one you have..the lift pump on mine is pretty much shot..I was going to remove it and the push rod and just plate it over because it’s just pulsing dry and rattling..would you know if there is any other parts on the inside of the end of the push rod that should be removed? Can’t seem to find any schematics on this..curious how the rod moves laterally..does it contact a cam lobe,or governor arm,lifter etc? Thks for the interest.

There's a pretty good chance Lift Pumps are still available for the LD15.

Yes they are but I’m just going to gravity feed it for now and get a pump later,
