Linisher speed?

Has anyone an idea of the speed at which a linisher belt should travel? I'm at the 'thinking about' stage of one I'm planning to make and, having now got the motor sorted thanks to rtbcomp on here , want to sort out the pulley size(s) I'll need.
Sadly, the label on the motor [it came from a tumble dryer afaik ] is unreadable in terms of speed [in fact, it's just unreadable ] so I'm stuffed unless I can find a way to work things out. I have a multi-meter which can measure, I think, RPM but don't know how to connect it - maybe it's for car engines only......? I don't have a DRO to measure shaft rotation speed.
Is belt speed critical, or am I over-thinking things [again.... ]

I have just measured my rjh linisher, it runs at 29.16 feet/second.

Can I ask how you measured that, or is it stated in a/the manual somewhere?

I measured it with a tachometer, but like a Dti but measures rotational speed

both of mine run about 1400rpm same as the motor speed its not critical

You can get an optical tachometer on eBay for about 12 quid

Our ones are ran direct from the motor, with what must be about 8" wheels.
So a quick bit of maths...

If it's a Chinese special don't forget to take the batteries out when your not using it or next time you lift it they'll be dead. When you switch them off they're not really off, jus found that out recently with my eBay anemometer. Good luck!

Thanks for the heads-up, I'll do as you suggest. Won it at £7 and being shipped from the UK, but it will be Chinese origin and I expect seller will be drop-shipping, it just means it'll be here in a few days instead of weeks.

Appreciate your help, seems I'll have an easy, cheap and mobile gadget for other uses. Cheers
