Lincoln Ranger socket swap?

Mods please feel free to move this post to the relevant section if I have put it in the wrong place.

I have just bought a Lincoln Electric Ranger 305D and it currently has two 110v sockets, a standard size one and the larger 32amp socket. There is also a blank for another socket so I'm wondering if a blue 16amp socket can be fitted, either using the blank space or either of the 110v sockets?

I'm asking this as although I have a brand new Bester wire feeder with the ranger I have a Cebora mig pulse that I use solely for aluminium and would like to think I could power it off the ranger should I need to.

My ranger has 110, 240 and 415v. Powers my mig ok but keeps tripping the power at high amps

Have you had a go with the wire feeder is the weld comparable to a standard mains mig? Thought about getting one myself I was looking at a tec arc unit.

I only picked it up today so haven't had chance to play with it yet. The guy I bought it off refurbed it and fitted the wire feeder (he services all my equipment, and currently trying to find out the answer to my question too) and say sit welds just as good as a mig plant. I know I could always run ally through the feeder but I prefer the pulse unit

I wanted the three socket configuration like you have but out of the three sets he had on offer non had that set up

They all come with the 3 plugs as standard as far as I know so should just be a case of wiring them back in. Might need to take the front panel off and take a look. Cannot see a reason to take them off unless it was something to do with the site they were on.

Love my ranger. Made my own trailer to fit it on as Lincoln's own is far to narrow. The auto idle can be a bit temperamental but you can live with that

I am considering building a trailer but I have just also bought a lwb sprinter with the intention of fitting it behind the bulkhead. Can you post some pics of the trailer as I was concerned that the lincoln ones were a bit narrow myself.

Fingers crossed on the sockets as I think it will be one of the most important buys for my business if I can run almost all my equipment off it

Will do. The Lincoln trailers are a pain to reverse cannot see what it's doing. I can only think where the welders were at would only allow 110v.

I would be in the same position as you my welder was powering just about everything at one time. I also have a 3 phase Colchester lathe and I use the ranger to power that.

The only thing I would recommend would be buy some spare fuel filters. Mine kept clogging up. It was ok when stood for a while but when you moved it to go to a job it used to surge and almost die for a while then after a while start working fine. The filter was clogged up with rubbish. Must be from filling up from farms with dirty tanks.

Nice trailer, but I would secure the gas bottles with ratchet straps for Peace of mind imo. Did you use stub axle suspension or the rigid type stub axles? I also like the way there is room for potential storage boxes

I appreciate that both the members above haven't been active for some time but does anyone else have any more information on altering the sockets from 2x110v to 1x415, 1x240, and 1x110v

quite often the 230v sockets are blanked off to save bother from dull safety wombels they have this thing about blue sockets for some reason.

if its got a 5 pin 415v in theory there is possoblity for 3 x 240v outlets. the vantage i run has 2 240 outlets but if you use a breackout lead from the 3ph you can have 3 240v outets but they are diffrent phases so have to be carefull

diagrams show that the 110v on the ranger is actully proper 2 phase CTE the aux genny is 3ph in star config. 2 of the wings are tapped to give 110v CTE. the 240v output comes off L3
