Anyone have any experience using one of these MIGs?
Have used this to do a few large patches on a rusty mazda campervan...Its very rusty! Unfortunately its an MOT jobby so as much as I'd like to do a thorough job, I can only cut out within an inch of all the rotted out metal and lap patch the new plates of steel over them.
The experience of the welder is a little bit of a let down.. gas shroud is too wide to see in corners for welding (have to guess aim) and for the range of wires (1.0mm max) but running 0.6mm, tip is too recessed into the shroud for my liking. Also the arc seems to hiss rather than sizzle as if you are spray transferring with a pulse MIG
On the plus side its a smooth wire feed, has stuff like spot weld timers and creep function for the wire, and a very light gun.
I prefer the older now retired compact 185 MIG we used to have!
