Lincoln 180 tig welder

hi im new to the forum was wondering if any of you guys can answer me a question iv just bought a arcos lincoln 180 ac/dc tig welder i intend to wire in its own socket with its own fuse on the fuse board the plug on the welder is one of the 32amp single phase blue plugs do any of you guys know what current this welder draws and what fuse i will need for the board the rating plate on top of the welder has worn smooth so its no help

Probably 30 amps at a guess.id stick a 40 amp rcbo on it and be done with it

The Lincoln machine is essentially identical to the Sureweld AC-DC 180 Tig that they sold many years ago. It's a bit of a beast and according to the manual I have here, it needs 10mm2 cable and a 70Amp fuse when used from a 240V supply.

If it's of any use, it should be able to run from a 45Amp supply fuse if connected to 415V (2 Phase). To do this, remove the small side panel and change the 2 jump links. There should be a diagram in there but if not, I can send a copy of the manual if you PM me.

Having said all the above, the machine will probably run quite well from a 32/40A fuse, assuming you don't run it flat-out all the time. I would also suggest wire type fuses, as trips will often pop when subjected to the inrush surge as the contactor pulls in and energises the main transformer.

Thanks for all the help im going to put a 40amp fuse in and try it and see how it goes im not a professional welder so its not going to be flat out iv bought this mainly to weld aluminium when the need arises iv got my trusty mig for steel
