Can anyone recommend some good lightweight welding overalls for summer use. My overalls are too hot to use in the summer and I noe have lots of little burns on my arms and legs.
IS that ALL??some overhead welding and burnt a 2inch line where it rolled over the skin.
I get my welding coats from any charity shops most have leather jackets in, for £10 just rip the lining out, makes it cooler get bomber style with zips and cuff closers, most are much more flexible leather than 'proper' welding coats and fit better.
Got my £9.50 leather welding jacket today from the local charity shop. My Mrs seems concerned that I plan to rip out the liner, I think she wants me to wear it.
Yep, definitely true - you could always spot a crabmariner because their 8s were a different colour. That and the smell@RaceDiagnostics

For the summer, I have a set and they are a lot lighter weight than cotton ones (and don't stink of fire retardent)
(I heard a dit that the RN issued cotton fire retardent impregnated gear instead of nomex to everyone but submariners for cost reasons)
The guy who ran the 4.5/close range section before me was one of those legendary drinking types - there were stories of him sinking half a dozen pints of beamish in the PO's mess and then trotting off to do a half marathon at Port Stanley when the ship was down the falklands!Guy I was at dartmouth with, was allergic to fire retardent so he boil washed all his new #4s as he literally would come out in hives around the neck, he also stumbled to a PT period zero session at 6am after a mess dinner and drinking till 3 am, quite how he managed PT was another matter as he could barely stand let alone walk...
