The guy has obviously got a real downer on being a welder, think there is more to his background than he is admitting... but also a lot of truth.

I can certainly relate to a lot of things there as well, I chucked in a job once because of all that sort of crap, had a repair on a shipping container once, so had to burn out a heap of tar and paint off before I could even begin welding, the fumes were making me sick, no proper ventilation or anything, hot as hell, but then topped it off a day later with a big bucket repair from an excavator, had to oxy cut off a bracket holding the pins , when something ignited and blew a whole heap of sparks and slag in the air, onto my head, which rolled down my back and ended down between my butt cheeks. Burnt in multiple places, I was not happy, as I was employed as a casual I just gave him my notice and left. Went to work on the ocean for a spell after that. Fresh air, much nicer.

Welding lost it's appeal for me for quite a while after that job.. :laughing:
