Lifting, sort of

Thought this might make some people on here cringe.

My father recently sold his shepherds hut which he made, he told the people who bought it "they would have to arrange collection but he would advise a low loader"
So the day comes and they turn up with a flat bed wagon, a tractor and a very small telehandler and the pictures show the rest.

When we were speaking to him and he could see we weren't keen on how we he did it he said " got to do it the farmers way havent you "
However the blokes on the tractor and telehandler were both very skilled and didn't even drop it

They did well seeing they've never done one before

We did something similar with 2 fork trucks to lift a a big crate off a wagon, lifted the crate and the wagon drove off from under it.

I mean, I bet their equipment didn't have current LOLER certificates, there were no cordons around the area, no hard hats/hi viz, and they didn't have a written lifting plan or RAMS...

But other than that, no-one died and no accidents, so job well done

I'm sure that loaders on tractors need certification to be able to claim farm payments.
A friend of mine had to do it last week....................the tester didn't know he had cctv and tested it by sitting in his car for 10 minutes and £150.

Roughly 16ft I think, he did have to divert on his way back to avoid a low bridge.

red tractor and SFP - I've never heard of any farms around here needing to produce LOLER certs for these.

From a HSE perspective, yes they should all be LOLER tested etc, any place of work etc. But HSE have bigger fish to fry, usually. The bigger places employing a few workers are getting better at this sort of thing, because they're prime targets.

The usual driver for these thins is insurance. My insurance (NFU) asked for compressor inspection, LOLER inspection and sparky cert for the workshop this year. Never done so before. They, however, paid and sent a man / men and did not involve me at all so crack on!

Who ever was behind it, I didn't mind as it raises the bar a bit hopefully

I was expecting to see a horror story there pretty common lifting stuff like that with a couple of telehandlers I think the health and safety police need to get out a bit more on a few farms and see how things are done . seen a lot of buildings going up on farms using telehandlers and home made crane jibs on them
