Lifting Harrison Grinders

It looks like I might be getting the grinder delivered today so I want to make sure I lift it off the trailer correctly. It was loaded on a forklift at the other end but I've only got an engine crane. My question is, is the eye on top of the grinder for lifting it? Probably a silly question but I like to be certain before I have 200kg of iron in the air!

That lifting eye will be the correct place to lift.

Deffo, the correct lifting position, You can tell by the lighter section of the eye, Its a "dynamo eye bolt" just designed for lifting the machine, Not to be used for general rigging. Some of the larger electric motors etc have the same,

While the eye remains with the machine part it is intended to lift all is well.
Soon as you try to use if for any other lifting you get into all sorts of problems. Who made it, is it certified, when was it last inspected......

That's like anything though. Want to build a flying Spitfire to 1940 specs from scratch? No chance, big fire/crash risk. Want to dredge a wrecked one out of a Norwegian lake and do a full restore to flying condition? Absolutely fine.

It would seem that if you've got the original blue prints you can make the parts and put them together, provided you document what you do, then fly it.
