Life of paint in the mixing pot

For how long does 2K paint in a mixing pot last once mixed up with hardener and thinners?

Are we talking 20mins before it is useless?

I am thinking if I need to get top coats on with 5 min intervals then I will need someone mixing it for me whilst I spray?

How far will 500ml of mixed paint go on the average saloon car?
I am planning on 3 top coats.

well i guess id want 2ltrs mixed ready to use for an external paint job no shuts /engine bay

i have got round a respray with 2 coats with 1ltr before , but i had a mixing scheme to make more if needed

Fast or Speedy hardener would make a big difference.

It is extra fast hardener!

I have loads of paint (bought 3L!) and planning on 3 coats.

Planning to do bumpers and trim bits first as they are off the car. So, 300ml - 400ml of paint for these with 3 coats will be OK I hope.

I know with Celly I was doing 200ml mixes and that would do two coats for a bike Petrol tank, rear side panels, front side panels, nose cone. BUT with Celly obviously it never mattered if I mixed two much as there is no hardener.

extra fast harder is more suited to a door mirror or bumper corner

if you can take it back and get medium or slow it would suit a respray better , as the paint stays wet enough that when youre spraying the front the overspray will melt into the back rather than settle and leave a poor finish

Might just do that. Only doing bumpers and trim bits tomorrow so will use the extra fast.

Don't know why the paint retailer would sell me that as he knew it was a full respray.

My bog standard Lechler Acrofan 2000 clear was about 4 hrs "pot life" once mixed with the standard hardner - 5 mins til "dust dry out of the gun @ 20°
