Anyone use one for workshop related cleaning

Tried one in the kitchen and was not impressed, lot's of steam, condensation everywhere, pools of water and did not shift the grease any better than a spray and wet cloth.

Same experience with a steam mop for cleaning the kitchen floor, the steam is only just above 100degrees so instantly turns back into water when it touches anything, it does lift a bit of muck but leaves most on the floor. We've gone back to hot water with soapy stuff and one of those mops you can squeeze over a bucket.

I bought something similar to clean scooter crank cases. Useless.

Yep I bought a £50 one from TS, all hype and no function.

If you fancy trying one they are always for sale at car boots for a fiver with 'oh they are great pet, it's only been used once'...says it all I suppose

I bought one for my wife who didn't want it so it ended up in the garage. Useless at shifting gunge off engines, axles, gearboxes etc.

Best thing I found for that is some stuff called Elbow Grease Not being sarcastic, it's from the pound shop or Range in a spray bottle and is brilliant.

I think sometimes buying a cheap version of something can make you think they are all a waste of time.

We have a Karcher one that is similar size to a cylinder vacuum. It's brilliant and we wouldn't be without it. We have quarry tiles in a biggish area and we use it instead of mopping. It has head designed for that, we put a microfibre towel on it. The floor comes up cleaner than it ever did when mopping and it's dry in minutes.Microfibres go straight in the washing machine and you are done. Our one can be filled on the fly too. Brilliant around the toilet etc but with 2 youngish boys the steam rising can stink a not if you don't do it often.Ours has paid for itself in time and chemicals easily.

We've got a Karcher one. Great for domestic cleaning, but I doubt it's up to cleaning engines.
