Don't bother with a cheap belt sander. They don't have the torque to really work hard, its just one of those tools like battery drills that you can't skimp on.

I have a motto, cheap is cheap for a reason.
But if youkeeptje receipt you have a 3 year warranty. I always loose it. So that as to my bad. But their stuff is not too poor quality for diy spec.

I bought two lidl angle grinders last time I saw them on offer. One is a reserve still in its box and the other one gets a reasonable amount of use but has taken to making interesting noises, a small light show and a bit of smoke on start up, depending on which speed its set to. It still works, but not for much longer I suspect and the thing is, can I find the receipt?

Just to update this thread, I used the belt sander a bit, mostly for shining up steel.

It also started making funny noises in one of the rollers, so I sent it back (had the receipt!).

I have a brand new one in the box now if anybody is interested.
