Lidl air saw

has anyone tried out the Lidl air saw that's just been on offer? My one has no power whatever & stalls at the slightest load. Have I got a duff one, or are they all like that. I took the end cover off to check there was no swarf left in there & it looked a bit dry, so oiled it & made it worse.

I'm going to take it back & get my money back, but thought I'd ask as I know others had bought them.

From reading on here, they're pretty 'air hungry' - and some have found they need a bit of 'fettling' to get them to work well.

I've taken it apart, oiled it, made no difference, if anything was worse, tried again & it doesn't work at all.

No, when you press the trigger, it just goes to the end of the stroke & stops there now. I'll take it back, I've still got the receipt

Mine worked for a few minutes, stalled easilly then stopped working. I'm going to claim a replacement under warrantee as it was a previous offer rather than recent. Lidl (and Aldi) warrantees are brilliant and no hassle in the event of a claim.

That's similar to my one, when I got it, it would stall easily, if you took the blade off what you were cutting it would not restart, you had to stop it & restart it. Stopped permanently now!

It looks the same as car builder solutions sell for £33

I have a Clarke saw that’s almost identical, the speed adjuster is on the opposite side to the air lever. Might be worth giving it a twist with a screwdriver.

i bought one from aldi and is fantastic.
only thing i would say is its a bit too fast and aggressive which seems to kill blades fast

Hi I've had no luck with Lidl air tools apart from their da sander.my air impact gun is crap and their spray gun wasn't much better

the impact gun was rubbish, i bought a clarke heavy duty impact gun and its been the best gun ive ever bought for £100
the aldi air ratchet is also good although it can jam sometimes (usually because ive forgotten to oil it for yonks).

What pressure are you running it at? Should be 90psi max and you can throttle it back with the air control screw if it has one.

Returned it today as faulty, they put it through the till & came up £12.99 refund, hang on a minute, we paid £14.99. Turned out they'd reduced them now by £2 but gave us the full amount. There were several on the shelf, but decided against a replacement as it might be from the same batch.

thats a good point i havent checked the pressure in a long while, i set the regulator at 95 psi but that was years ago so i should probably check it.
i will have a a look for a air control screw but being as the saw was so cheap i would be surprised if it can be adjusted/evan has one.
i must have bought one made on a good day

i think part of the problem is not finishing the internal components properly which can cause bits to stick or are made from basic materials leading to corrosion pretty quick if not oiled regularly.
my air ratchet once had rusty ooze come out of it after i used it in the rain outside and had completely forgotton to dry it out properly and oil it.
ive stripped it down a couple of times and the internals arent brilliant (mainly rough cut steel internals) but i did find the more i used it from new the better it got.
now its had 10 years of use it rarely jams but when it does its usually when not under load like its got stuck with the vanes inside retracted or something?
what can you expect for £20 i know i cant really complain.

Vanes sticking is generally contamination or corrosion, a good dose of airline lube can work wonders.
