Couple of questions if I may about this product.

After application [twice] and buffing, does it leave a faint smell behind? I've been asked to make a squirrel feed for someone who supplies my horseshoes and I wouldn't want to use it if it'd be detectable by the 'wee souls'.

Also, if used on h/shoes which have been buffed on a wire wheel to remove light flash rusting, would it darken them significantly.

I'll be starting a new thread about getting design ideas/suggestions for the feeder, all Google shows me are wooden boxes but I'd like to incorporate some shoes if possible.

Not sure Iron paste is suitable for outdoor projects...perhaps if its regulalry applied, but wouldnt be my choice.

It does darken metal down slightly, but wont take shiny buffed steel to a black finish.
For decorative stuff where I want a black iron finish, I have been known to give it a quick light spray of matt black, dabbed over with a cloth as its drying, then once dry, a couple coats of the iron paste.
