Lens glass for Mig

I'm just starting to do some welding again after 15 years. I've just bought a new mask and i think it has a 10 lens - presumably right for arc welding. Welder is a Clarke 150 No-gas - needs serious dusting!

I vaguely recall using an 8 before - would that be right? thanks

just use what you are comfortable with although i would recommend a auto darkening helmet you can get them quite cheap and offer function of changing the settings to suit your needs.

Agree totally, for about £25 you can get an auto darkening nowadays, once used you would never go back to a manual.

For MIG work I generally use between a #9 and a #11 depending on how many amps I am using, in general #9 to #10 up to about 150 amps and #11 above that, but I now use a auto darkening helmet instead of one that has a fixed lens, save heaps of time if you do a lot of stop start tacks etc. or you need two hands to do a weld.
