Lechlers top coat?

Hello. I'm looking for some advice on what goes on top of epoxy primer. Do I need to prime with a tinted epoxy similar to the top coat or can I just use grey top coat colours are chocolate brown and dark Brunswick ? What top cost should I be using, I see lechlers do an epoxy top coat is this a good idea? Application is a large scale model traction engine. Thanks for your help.

I use 2K hi build on top of epoxy wet on wet unless filler is involved, I use primer tinted to match the topcoat so stonechips don't show so bad.
You can use any topcoat on top, I like the Lechlar or Max Meyer topcoats

Is Epodur 2k epoxy enamel top coat any good?

If your engine is to be kept outside it's not recommended as the epoxy finish is not UV fast and will chalk up.

The engine will go outside for weekends at steam rallies and the like. The paint must be resistant to oil and moderate heat. What do you recommend?

Normal 2K topcoat will be fine, I use it on my V8 engines

I've never used epoxy topcoat but I would be very surprised if it wasn't uv safe otherwise what would be the point of it ?
The epoxy primer as you said isn't uv stable but I've had body shells in epoxy outside for well over a year and nothing happened .

Lack of UV resistance is a characteristic of epoxy. I'm not saying it will quickly turn into a flaking mess, but it is susceptible to chalking. Hence why on the datasheet for the product it says

In industrial application suitable for any substrates, where very good chemical resistance, but no weather resistance, is required.
