Lead loading on cast alluminium

Hi guys,

I have a vespa headset which I had bead blasted.
Now, the headset has seen better days (its nearly 40 years old!) and instead of using filler I thought about using lead. My question is: will it stick?

no you cant solder alloy so lead wont fuse either

I have never used the stuff (I plan to try sometime in the near future), I dont know how good it is, I dont know if it will suit your needs. I have heard some good reports though.

You can get aluminium solder, but it's expensive and really used for electrical work. I think it's a type of silver solder.

Depending on the damage it may be possible to build it up with weld?

Don't really need major repairs, its just little holes like pitting (is it a word?).

I will try and take some pictures tomorrow.

Use liquid metal, like Devcon metal putty.

Why not buy a good used part if you intend to chrome, or use poly body filler if you want to paint?

As I've said, don't look that bad.

Don't want to buy another one as this is quite rare and also don't do chrome.

I will probably just use some filler then, unless high build primer its enough to make it nice and smooth?
