Just out of curiosity, as I tend to notice this more and more in photos and videos. Why is it that a lot of shops which tend to specialise in working with older machinery, or use older production techniques and equipment, will generally have a pot of coolant/cutting fluid which they apply to the piece occasionally with a brush rather than using a coolant feed, even if one's available on that lathe?
Is it just one of those "what you're used to" type things, or is there a reason some tend to avoid using pumped coolant and cutting fluid?
