Hi guys,
I'm on the beg again for some help and advice.
Along with the pillar drill there was a bunch of assorted tooling included, some of it useful, some of it not. I've got a few pictures of some stuff I need advice on, also pictures of the rest of stuff if anyone is interested!
Indexable tooling, there's a few holders and a lot of tips here, unfortunately none of the tips match correctly to any of the holders so I'm looking for advice on whether to keep a hold of this stuff or sell it on to someone who might be able to use it. I've done a little research to try and identify the types but I assume many of the insert styles are now obsolete, in which case I'll sell them on to people who have appropriate holders.
Holders, some Carboloy, A Sandvik and the rest have no name, some of the little retainers are seized or rounded, to be honest some are in pretty rough shape. They are all around 3/4 inch shank. (Free picture of my big toe!)
Some holder have double inserts in them, I assume there should be a much thicker insert in there instead?
Inserts,
here are all the triangular ones, I think they are all TN and TP styles, a few different styles of relief, radius and chip-breaker. They are all Sandvik or Carboloy. Are the ones without holes for milling cutters?
Square, none of these have holes, again are they for milling cutters?
They are marked SNU-424 with there being 2 different grades, a 003 and 370. "cast iron" is scribbled on the back of the 003.
I have no idea what type these are, there's also a tin of random ones in which a lot of them are chipped.
Next up, there a few jars worth of these little tips, I think the ends a brazed, a couple of different sizes and styles, I thought they may have been for boring bars but they have internal threaded ends, any ideas?
All brand new still in the wax.
Last but not least, 3 tins of these hss tools, they are similar to a normal hss lathe tool but have a large recess, was told they were for an automatic lathe but I have no idea, they may be useful for grinding tools from?
Here's a few pics of the other stuff if you are interested, there was also a tub full of blank hss bits, no picture as we all know what they look like!
Vice to go with the pillar drill.
Brazed tip tools, ones at the top are brand new. the bottoms ones are used or corroded.
Sliding tailstock die holder MT2 and a couple of old well used boring bars. tin of small bits and inserts.
