Just stuff like making sure the gibs are set correctly, checking alignment etc. However, with the Clarke stuff, it's well worth stripping it down a bit and giving them a fettle, especially if it's brand new. They have a tendency, (it's the same with a lot of Far Eastern supplied equipment these days), to leave rough edges, use grease which is more like glue etc., so a bit of fettling can pay dividends in the long term with regards to usability and reliability. Plus, check the chuck alignment. One chap I know who recently purchased one of their lathes had to rotate the chuck on the backplate to get it running true.
