Lathe request - beer tokens on offer

I need one Stihl 041 fan to be opened up slightly on two areas. I can supply the part which fitted OK and the new inner solid flywheel which the fan needs to slip over. Easy enough job hopefully.

Been trying to get the replacement part but it's discontinued and after a couple months messaging anyone who has used 041 parts on ebay I've hit a dead end.

I will post it to any member in UK who can help and will pay for your time in doing it. No hurry either if I had it back within 2 - 3 of weeks would be great.



Need a small amount removed to both parts as pointed at with screwdriver:

Well if he does perchance it's a recoil "fan" that fits over a points type 041 flywheel. I require this type now as I bought a new aftermarket electronic ignition coil and it fits the points style ignition only. I have obtained the correct used replacement flywheel but can't get a fan which fits over it.

I guess most of it is pitted. But where the small step is visible that inner most part needs removed to let the flywheel fully drop in. At the moment it only goes in about halfway

An update on this one - huge thank you to @northwest for being kind enough to open up the original fan. Today I got around to fitting the new ignition system, replacement used Bosch flywheel and the machined fan. I also added a new plastic liner for the starter pawls to grab.





New spark plug correctly gapped to 0.5mm and it fired right off and idled on a dribble of fuel.

Sounds healthy - this is likely the first time in about 20 years this old saw has fired up

I have decided to keep it in its original patina. It's all solid, no issues or cracks etc. The original bar will require dressing and repainting but the rest of the saw will stay completely original and get her up and running perfect soon. Next up is to order what I hope will be the correct fuel filller cap this time. Replace the horrible cheap plastic fuel lines with genuine Stihl rubber fuel hose. And put it back together.
