Lathe made gift

Hi. My nephew who lives in Australia is really interested in how stuff works. He’s about 11 years old I think ( ). My sister (his mum) is here with us until tomorrow morning. From what she’s said he’d love metalworking/practical engineering.
I’d like to make something on the lathe as a bit of a gift that might get his interest up. Probably take photos/videos along the way.
Anyone got any ideas of something that could be rattled off in an hour or two? Got bar stock up to 32mm.

as anything he wants to build is based upon that

i like practical experience so the homemade stuff is my kind of thing

not forgetting lathe stuff can be built out of wood, metal

Thanks for the suggestions everyone. Ran out of time in the end so I gave my sister an old conrod to give to him and tell him to work out what it is

machinists hammer, tap holder, die stock, centre punch, a thingamy (like a machinists fidget spinner, block of metal with some threaded holes, few different shaped bits on bearings to spin and press etc) go/nogo thread or shaft gauges so he can go around checking out the sloppy threads on things around the house, if you fancy more than just machining then an unspillable pot, just need to solder the 'spout in place'...i understand she isnt with you now but the majority of these things, if packaged and described properly can be sent to oz via most international postal services so would make a nice gift for him and could all be used to help him along the way of learning about tools/machining/engineering.
