Evening all
The gearbox on my Harrison L5A is reasonably worn and when working hard if fairly noisy. The manual specifies a hydraulic oil (Shell Tellus 68 off the top of my head) As it is going to be getting an oil change in the next couple of week, today I wondered whether a thicker oil would help it a bit. I had just drained the EP90 (GL4) out of a gearbox that had only done about 5000 miles, so was still fairly good, dropped it through a filter to take any nasties out and dropped it in. The amount it quietened down was amazing. I took the lid off whilst it was running and plenty of oil was being flicked about so the thick oil doesn't seem to be hindering lubrication. Can anyone think of a good reason that I shouldn't run with EP90 all the time?
Cheers
Andrew
