What would you Welders do without us Engineers telling you what is wrong.
Just get on with it instead of being nagged at about stupid stuff or having to read drawings with things drawn wrong handed, with welds were you cant get to the joint.
There was another good one

You would be happy to work with me then, If my report say there is a structural issue with a frame then I will ask for 2 simple things to happen, 1) you find the fault (sometimes I will make it easy with some ODS analysis) 2) you weld where weld is required...
I was asked to take a fan off a shaft a few weeks ago and nothing was moving it, I knew it either needed heat (a problem in an EX area, and couldn't be arsed with 2 hours of paper work) or going in a press.. the new lad started making all this noise about wanting drawings to see how the fit was on the shaft etc etc.. which I couldn't be bothered with..

Well... I left it with one of the site engineers, who said it would be done by 8am monday morning.. I went back to site at 10 and found him stores ordering as many disks as they could get.. The fan was direct drive onto the motor so he started at the back of the motor with a 9 inch grinder (the EX atmosphere was out the window as this fan stopped production) and ground the motor to pieces until he got enough off to send the fan out to to have the shaft pressed out, welded, ground and a new boss made. I don't know what force was used to get the shaft out but it went on the big press.. all in all changing a motor cost a good few £k.
