Other than run away! This is a the bottom of a broken breakfast bar stool.
It is without doubt a truly terrible design. Even I would have sent this back to the designers with a comment such as, "I like the seat bit but, ask an engineer about how you are holding the pillar (a bit long pivot) to the base." This base seems to be a type of cheese.
All the twisting moment is right at the base. It is the inner welds that have let go. They all cracked through the weld apart from one. That hung on long enough to crack the cheese.
The owners of the stool have already changed this one 3 times. This one hung on long enough to be out of warranty. The wife said I would have a go! I have told them any repair is unlikely to last.
I only have basic kit. The bolt is to allow me somewhere to clamp to. Any advice as to settings? I have a basic Clarke with the two switches and wire speed dial. TIA
