Lasercutting costs

I know this isnt straightforward question but my build is hampered by the pieces i need lasercut for the rear end, its 6mm mild steel plate. 4 pieces and nothing complicated. Its for the rear centre drive a so its really just 2 big holes in 2 pieces and couple notches lol and some bolt holes i the rest, the 2 side pieces are 350mm x 250mm and the ends 422x 250 and 300 x 250.

Anyway i have been quoted best £200 and im slightly warey about that quote so what do you guys think? or know anywhere i should get it done? not many small places around me

We do a lot of laser cutting at work. can cut mild and stainless up to 10mm and ally up to 3mm. the price will be lower if you already have a DXF though we can draw it for you too if needs be. we get a lot of one offs and have no minimum order...

Plenty of suggestions already and i'm at the wrong end of the country anyway but FWIW as long as i need enough doing to meet their min charge (£40+ VAT) then my local place saves me a chunk of money for example i recently made a heatshield out of 304L for a regular of mine, forget the exact dimensions but including waste the materials cost to me was ~£20. He's potentially looking for me to do a short of run of these for him so i took the pattern to profile cutters... £11 ea including materials* if i send them a drawing, £40 drawing fee if i want them to scan the pattern etc

*not really suprising given the amount of metal they buy compared to me...

Any particular reason for laser cutting? Plasma is perfectly accurate and there are more companies that'll do it.

Shop around I recently wanted some cutting doing I wanted a 150 pieces of the same design I had a drawing in the correct format. I contacted about 6 companies and the prices varied from £135 to £45 I even got a quote for cnc plasma cutting that was about £115 the cheapest quote was from Yorkshire laser

I'm a trained laser operator and CAD, generally the prices will often vary so much due to companies having some space on a sheet already planned for another customer so if it can be squeezed in you will get it alot cheaper or if the company is short of work they will quote cheaper to win some orders.

I'm on holiday this week otherwise could of quoted myself

Thats all good advice and has prompted a thourough search along with a couple places suggested. All i need to d to get there quotes is draw it out DXF styleeee and am rocking, started using Draftsight so need to crash course myself to get sorted.

As for Plasma Drainss i really know no difference so if its much the same theres prob no reason i could not use plasma. Will look into it later if i get time

Thanks Steveo3002 for your suggestion of Whengparts. The guy Paul is great very help full and got back to me initially in minuites and as it was friday had me quoted first thing monday. Anyways his prices seem very fair and i made the decision to go with him.

That's alright, Been gert busy this week there is a big ole pile of quotes and this is office workers working pace remember!
