might be a bit slow but i use water levels. there acurate over any distance and only cost me 3 quid from car boot sale. all brass fittings on them the guy didnt know what they were
I had a lazer level, quite a good one in fact...got fed up setting it up and always ended up checking with my 6 foot standard level...old mistrusting me!!!!
Thanks for the replies folks. As I suspected, there is only one reason to mark something down from £170+ to less than £30, that is it isn't very good.
On the other hand I'm on medication for an inner ear problem at the moment so I have to be off the beer and as it is less than £30 so I might throw some beer money at it.

Is the level you have a Watts water Gauge? I used them a lot setting up Turbine and feed pump bearing pedestals, Accurate to a Thou over any distance you like!
