Anyway. Monday I emailed them for a price.
Tuesday a guy phoned me to clarify my dodgy sketch, he modified the components in response to my comments regards my drawing. I paid for the order.
The parts turned up on Wednesday perfect. Better, ie more accurate than the people I used to use and cheaper than my last order 12 months back.

And no charge for the CAD work or whatever it is called to get the laser thingy to do the stuff. Or is there a factory full orphans cutting them out by hand?

They are nothing exciting, unless you were making them by hand like I used to.
Here is my original CAD* drawing, I love how I was able to make look like a beer mat drawing, the powers of computers.

Simple strips with gaps in the end, radiused corners and small holes in them.
Making 60 of these was a serious drrraaaaaaagggggggg.

The ones in the picture are the old oes cut by some kind of CNC nibbler thingy, neded deburring as well, the laser ones are a better finish.

Cost? 39p each, plus VAT and £21.00 shipping for 600 of them.

I would imagine they would do small numbers and one offs. Business is business.

Not a bad price really, but a hefty order is 600. Id expect the file done for nothing for that many, as its so simple. I expect theres a few machines, with one minder, starting it off loading sheets removing from the nests.

Premier have been my main supplier of profiles for a long time, I think I posted the link in another thread. I've been there many times, they are a slick operation, and very easy to deal with, I always supply DXF files, but they have a clever laser scanner that reverse engineers flat components quicker than you can draw them.

£21 is the cost of shipping, not the total.

39p + vat = 46p
46p*600 = £276

so just under £300 for 600 pieces

I emailed several companies and not one replied.
I wanted some brackets made.
got them made in the USA in the end by one of the forum members son(motorbike forum)
this is what I wanted...

45mm wide/60mm length and 12mm hole. these cost me £267 inc post.
thats 89p each .300 off

the other were 80p each inc postage, again 300 off..
see pics ,the end of the grab rail you'll see what looks like a hook.
this is approx 50mm long by 25mm wide.
