larger rolls of wire

Hello, I'm new here. By the way, I really enjoy this site. I have a question regarding the size of the hole in the center of the wire spool. My 160en came with the small spool and I have replaced it twice with 1lb rolls. The pictures of the 10lb rolls I am finding online look to have larger diameter holes. I am probably missing something but what do I do if it is larger? Thanks again. Charlie

The larger reels have a 2" hole.

The Clarke's come with a adapter for the larger reels. There is probably already a 2" hub on the inside. On the outside, the adapter is usually used as a big washer on the smaller rolls.

I am curious where you got a 160EN. I have only seen the 130EN and 180EN sold in the US (and an occasional 220TE).

I have seen the 160en for sale on ebay recently. In fact I am considering purchasing one. I had thought of the 130en, but feel like I might need to step up to the 160en or 180en in the future anyway.

How do you like the 160en cbourbeau32 ?

Hmm, did a search on ebay. The 160EN is going for about the same price I paid for my 130EN. Does look like they do not come with a regulator.

I had the 130 and really liked it. I did want a bit more power though and a 220V version. The 130 draws more than most 110V circuits can handle. The 160 looks like a good deal.

shenion, I got mine refurbished from an online company called tool-mall.com
However it looks like they may be going out of business. The unit looked brand new when I got it and if I remember correctly I paid about $200 with shipping. I think it was $169. At that time (August 2008) they had all sorts of refurbished Clarke welders that they were reselling. I like you have looked lately and I can't find any refurbs. Charlie

shenion you are correct. There are several for sale on e-bay right now by just typing
160en in the search box. The only auction has 2+ days left and is at $163.66. Shipping is $40 so that isn't bad at all. I feel fortunate now to have gotten the deal I did on mine. I may try to pick up a 110 some day if I can't get a 220 plug closer to my garage. Charlie
