Next door neigbour has asked me to do some welding on his old landrover chassis, front end box chassis section with the rear leafspring bolt hole through it.
The existing metal has be over patched repeatedly in the past so has come to the point where I'm going to have to cut out a large section and replace it.
While I don't have a problem with the welding side of things I'm more used to VW bugs and haven't tackled a chassis job like this before.
I'm thinking of cutting out one side at a time and replacing them and then the bottom section to try and keep everything aligned. Does anyone have any opinions/ advice? Especially regarding the thickness steel it's likely to be as the fella's using the car and i'll be doing this next weekend so will need to collect any steel needed in the week. I have some 2mm and 3mm already.
Cheers all.
