landline phone suppliers

Looking to switch I am at the end of my tether with BT. I get 1 meg at best and only 0.5 meg today, rubbish line is a big issue and they full well know its had it (open reach are here every 8-12 weeks) . the final straw today I lodged an official complain yet nobody can speak to me about it till tomorrow so they just gave me a number. I mean how many complaints can you have so you cant actually speak to a client till the next day!

Thing is who? any experiences in switching ? I get messages telling me we have super fast fibre in my area yet all I have is a rotten old corroded line and a lot of throttle at the exchange.

Unless you swap to Virgin, then all the others (Sky, Talk Talk, PlusNet etc etc) use the same lines as BT. I think even Virgin will use the same copper wires for the last connection to your house unless you have TV package too then I think they may sink a cable.

For Broadband in Sheffield Virgin have their own infrastructure, they bring fibre into your own premises. They took over our local cable supplier.

They use BT lines for their landline phones.

For Broadband in Sheffield Virgin have their own infrastructure, they bring fibre into your own premises. They took over our local cable supplier.

They use BT lines for their landline phones.

My virgin cable comes right onto my house wall to a splitter box, internet then goes to the back, and the phone to the front all with there own cabling, the old BT stuff is completely disconnected, I've been very pleased with it, 50 meg stable download and 5 meg upload, no issues at all over the three years I've had it, unlike that lot that think the future's bright, who I could probably write a book about.

Yes two of the local keepers have it now. I am interested if you might PM me the contact, I tried a few years previous but there was nobody I could bounce off, perhaps there might be now.


I know its the same cable I am thinking another supplier might push open reach much harder to change the old bit of rope they call a cable. Dig consent has been given 2-3 times to the lads and then openreach boss says "just repair it" fed up to the back teeth for paying for a non service. I mean I often cant even get the darn forum to scroll down page let alone conduct business
