Here's my progress so far on this project. It's (going to end up)a defender 200tdi pickup/tipper. It started with an Ex military heavy duty chassis, was a v8 but i changed the engine mounts to take the 200tdi. Strengthened it up a bit and galved it along with the bulkhead.
The axles are just fitted temp so as i can move it about the yard, but they will come back out and get refurbed.
Stripped the donor 110, and started the rebuild. The engine is a cracker and the gearbox had been reconditioned a few thousand miles before i got it. The most interesting part for me will be building the rear body. It will look like a hi-cap body with fixed sides, but it will be able to tip
I'm galving loads more parts that usually turn to c rap on a defender so it will last and it should make for a nice work truck.

Son of a friend has just finished a Series IIA rebuild with a new galvanised chassis and I fitted the new wiring loom and helped him get it running. It's tested and on the road now, just fitted the back door the other day. I spotted a 1967 LWB the other day on some local allotments covered in green slime and rotting away, I'd not have given it a second glance in the past.

There worth saving, there's something special about a series landy that you don't get with coil sprung defenders.
