I think the tsunami thing is fake news. Wrong type of volcano, too far from the shore etc.

On the other hand it's really going on isn't it. Wonder how long it can go on for? Let's hope it hasn't bumped into an oil or gas deposit on its way up!

Quite mental footage, can't be easy getting house insurance under a potentially active volcano.

Regarding the hi-viz jacket man, I believe that protects you from lava, just off to check.

As La Palma is on one of the smaller and younger islands, I would say it could go on for another twenty million years or so, perhaps it will make Fuerteventura size one day.

Seems like 20 - 50 years is not uncommon! Yikes. That's a lot longer than I was really expecting. No idea if it's true but if it is, there's gonna be a lot of very disappointed islanders.

Timanfaya on Lanzarote last erupted in the 1820's in a chain of events over a period of about a hundred years. The vents are still hot enough to light grass or wood as demonstrated at the visitor centre or indeed cook chicken.
We were there in 2019, I was really taken by not just the volcano but by the whole island, it was a great holiday.

Movies and books have been made about the predicted result of said tsunami, wiping out the eastern seaboard of the USA etc.

There have been some really spectacular sunsets here on the Algarve. Sky very red must be due to this.

One of the most memorable things I have ever done is walk down inside the crater of an active volcano, this was not a tourist trip. It was this one:

It was also a long time ago but the magnitude of the wall of molten lava and the heat and the molten rock and my total insignificance as I stood there I have never forgotten. We think we are something, until faced with something like that and you realise you are nothing really.
