l200 b40 problem

So, trying to jump start my tractor before I got there the l200(2007 pram) sunk to its axles in a soft spot , yes I should have known better, anyways I didnt spin the wheels, jjust got my other gold fergie (the ones that apparently never start!) hooked it up and towed out backwards, the truck in crawler with diff locked up, came out easy .my brother drove the tractor.
the problem , spotted straight away as I pulled it out of diff lock and back to two wheel drive all 4x4 green dash lights went off , tried engaging again, all worked, diff lock(central) light goes on but no 4x4 lights .
looked under briefly, nothing hanging , but presume I might have knocked a connection off , would I be right in thinking this or some wheres else to look first ? trucks running great and just flew through mot with only rust on brake pipe ferrule, so although scruffy I would like to keep it up together. yes I asked on l200 forum, but as ever no replies. it seems unless you asking about putting tractor size tyres no ones interested ...

I found with mine (2015, last if the B40s) that changing the 4x4 settings if it had been set a while, would result in the symptoms you wrote

Found putting it in 2wd or 4wd for road and driving a bit always cured it

always been puting in 4x4 then back to 2x4 on a regular basis , never had a problem, think some wiring might have got tugged off underneath...

hi, yes all seems to enggage , just lost the dash 4x4 lights completly, exceptting the centre diff lock light which still works , as I said went to turn in field , suddenly dropped in wet spot , did nt spin wheels as it was obvious bellied out, just dragged back with tractor , with 4x4 and diffloc engaged it drove itself out after the first yard , in crawler gear. only road tyres on or would probably got out on its own

either the lamp in the dash of the switch on the front axle then I reakon.

ok, cheers , going with switch on front axle as that sunk down so far that mud was past the rims and two inches up the wheels..

will do, peered undeneath to check that nothing damaged /hanging straight after and nothing obvious , will drive it up on a couple pallets when I get a chance and have a squizz. thanks

If it's automatic check the inhibitor switch on the side of the gearbox. If it's been stuck in deep mud then the switch can get full of dirt and stop the correct lights showing on the dash, can also make gear engagement more difficult too

thanks , previous one was an auto , but this one is a manual . auto is nicer/easier to drive but the manual is way way more eonomical , getting 37mpg av and on a run up to 42.

update , had a qucik squiz undeneath , sump gaurd etc all straight true and clean , nothing ripped out of place , you can see on the lower wishbones where it sat on dirt , looked further back at connections on gbox all firm and tight , so seems it might be else where theres a fault , although did nt take sump gaurd off as everything intact .

gaurd off, all looking perfect and clean, leads all good, checked them on the junctions on chassis rail , again all intact and looking good , so mustt be some where s else , darn it..

did u unplug the detection switch and check it for continuity ?

no, just checked all plugs secure as was working fine untill it sank in field , in fact lights were working when engaged to reverse out . presume the detection switch is the one in the axle?

yes its the one on the front axle tube near the actuator
