For those people who, like me have a cronky old L5A. My cross slide lead screw (and more particularly the nut) were quite badly worn. I bought an L16 screw and nut from G & M when they had a NOS sale.
The threaded portion is correct but there are differences between the original L5A item and the L15. The picture below shows them next to each other, a sleeve I made to join the two halves together and a replacement support block for the back of the chip cover.
I cut the two lead screws and pressed each into the sleeve, which I had made for an interference fit, added a couple of grub screws for belt and braces. Then installed it all
