Has anyone used Fit Up Tools key plates?

they're not cheap but seem a lot more versatile than a dog and wedge.

only problem is 1 key plate and 6 bull pins plus 6 weld on tabs is the best part of £200

That's a really nice solution. I imagine you'd look after the parts a lot better than shop made dogs/wedges, but in theory there's not much to go wrong with them... Just replace the nuts now and again...

I like that you can snug the gap up to what you need.

You'd have to be doing a few plate replacements to justify them, though! You'd want at least 2 sets I'd have thought?

Couple of wedges, couple of plates, and a couple of bits of heavy angle and a couple of bolts and a metre of 50x10 flat has done the trick for me for the last 20+ years.

Aye I've plenty of dogs and wedges, the ability to dog a plate down and move it over with one tool though seemed like a good idea.

I mean it would probably be easy enough to fabricate something up to do the same job

I have seen these made out of cut and welded links of chain/plate in - "ship/boat yards".

Did not take too much notice - I will try and google them?

Assume it is time honoured method of doing it with what is lying on the floor about you?

If you weld a bolt to the end of the dog, and have a bit of heavy angle with a hole in, you can count that as one tool.
