Recently acquired a Kerry AG lathe anyone got any experience and got any advice, hints or tips about it. I've gone though the lathe. Co.uk but if anyones got any first hand experience I would be grateful

What is it you need to know? I had one in the past, nice little machines, very well built but don’t seem to get the reputation they deserve.

I have two Mk3's one L00 and one threaded nose, both are works in progress. If you put up a picture of yours we can probably provide a bit more information, as there were a few variants.

But it's a threaded nose wouldn't happen to know what the thread is.

Here a few pictures, before it was put back together. Covid put a big spanner in the works but hopefully I'll have it turning under its won power for the first time this weekend.

I believe it is a 2" x 4TPI Whit. with a register of 2.0621"

Here a few pictures, before it was put back together. Covid put a big spanner in the works but hopefully I'll have it turning under its won power for the first time this weekend.

What you have there the rarer G.C model, i.e. the uprated toolroom version of the more common A.G.

Differences are a more substantial cast iron base instead of the welded/sheet metal stand to help with vibration stability and dampening.
In addition they come with the much beefier Matrix multi plate clutch and Ferodo drum brake.

There is some rumour they also selected the more accurate of the A.G units as the basis for the G.C, although I don't think that has been substantiated.

Nice machine - do be aware as you have stripped the bed from the cabinet - the gasket material it sat on is not to seal it, but rather to act as a cushion to stop it twisting out of alignment when it is bolted down to the base.
The idea is you just snug it down on the gasket so that it just sits there under its own geometry and not crank the bolts down so it deforms/deflects. It is a common issue when the lathe has been disassembled for moving and people haven't been aware.

Aye most of that I had already gathered. Including the hold down bolts just to snug them, had to make new gaskets as they where shot.

Mostly got it back together, I dropped the single phase motor unfortunately and smashed the motor but it was a bit past it anyway.

So picked up a new 1.5hp 3 phase then going to stick it on VFD for a bit more speed control.

I don't suppose if you know if that thread pattern matches any other common lathe.

Want a couple new backing plates to fit the small chuck from our old sphere lathe
