Folks wanting a euro torch and redesigned spool system are completely missing the point.

People seem to be obsessed with the idea that a Euro-Torch = super smooth wire feed & will be the cure to all their problems... it won't... that's down to the wire feed assembly itself.
Fitting a Euro-Torch to a machine with a poor quality wire feed assembly & poor quality direct wired torch will improve things...temporarily... but you'll never get a really consistent wire feed without a really consistent, quality wire feed assembly Quality machines like the Kemppi (and Lincoln etc.) have a quality wire feed assembly and, even with direct wired torches, perform infinately better than machines fitted with Euro-Torches but sh1te wire feed assemblies!
It's also worth noting that regular torch servicing is essential, whether it be Euro or otherwise, to maintain smooth wire feed. Rusty wire is also a big cause of wire feed trouble.

Tend to agree with you weldequip. Smooth feed is essential to maintain the current at a constant output.

Well i used my first 5kg roll of wire in mine yesterday (that one was from lidl)
went to load up a new reel ive had for a few months (a white box brand ) and of cource the reel was wider .
the door did shut (just) so that will creat some friction as the retaining plate and spring doesnt engage .

moral of the story specify its for a minarcmig as my supplier does sell kemppi machines , either that or take a tape measure

Or take the empty reel in to compare.

Ha well i did take the empty reel in and the same supplier has changed from white box wire to lincoln wire , the same width reels tho tooo wide

Had to use the machine today , on its side tho with the door open
Ill just have to carry the empty reel on my travels and find another supplier !
would be handy to know what brands do fit

I've found lincoln supramig fits...Some clarke wire i was using in another mig doesn't fit.

I had a bit of a measure up this morning thinking it might just be a case of making a new reel tensioner, as that never fits on with the wider reels.

Unfortunately the larger reels just rub on the door. The larger ones are 60mm wide, the ones that fit are 55mm wide. I have been saving the empty reels with the intention of making something to wind the wire from the larger reels onto them.

hi wyn , im sure it was lincoln supramig that was on a wide reel yesterday , they probably use what ever reels they can get wide or narrow .
im just using it on its side with the door open at the moment
i might go shopping tomorrow theres a couple of suppliers in the next town

ok sucess , had to go to two suppliers first one too wide , second one 56mm wide fits fine but its SIP Im sure it wil be fine tho
incidently the wire ive got on at the moment (where the door wont shut ) is 63mm wide .
There does seem a wide variation in reel widths .

we just need to stick to 55/ 56mm max width .

or maybe its just a ploy by kemppi so we buy their wire

I bought mine from Spectrum welding in Chesterfield without even thinking about it and thankfully it fitted fine, no brand name on the box though.
