Kemppi minarc 180 problem

Got a problem now with my Kemmpi minarc welder. When i go to arc up on the metal you dont get the usual nice crackling sound but more of a buzzing noise. Its set on automatic so you just tell it what the thickness of the metal you are using. Gas is coming through. The wire is still welding but sits very low and just pools.

Anyone got any idea's?

I thought it was low on gas, which it was a bit. Ive changed to a new bottle of mig gas but same problem. I also thought it might be arcing in the torch on a bit of crap that was stuck. New welding tip and still same.

I have the 180 also but never any trouble, Have you tried switching to manual control and see if it improves,

Could it be the material setting....mild steel/ stainless steeel/ aluminium?
Are you using mild steel but it's set on one of the others.

I have one as well but I am having a problem understanding what you mean. Could you put a picture up? Where are you in "England" which is a bit vague for a location? What wire are you using .8 or .6 and is your gas argon/co2 or co2 although I do use either with no problem.

I will try to get a pic up tomorrow. I can think of another way to explain it. Ive edited my location sorry i wasn't thinking. I'm using .8 wire and argon/co2 gas. The welded is set on Fe as well

If you turn it up to full amps or up to 4mm ferrous on auto then the power seams to be there.

News on my welder is ive taken it back to the supplier. I thought i have had it for much longer than i actually have.......i only bought it in January so it is still in warrenty. They will let me know tomorrow and i'll update the post.

Bit of an update although nobody will actually tell me what was wrong with it

They are repairing it under warranty after being on to a Kemppi engineer yesterday. i hope i get it back for the weekend as ive some suspension brackets i need to make.

I will try and get out them what was actually the problem.

Well i collect a new welder on Wednesday replaced under warranty. The controller card inside is FURBAR and Kemppi have not had one of these go wrong on this unit before. So the result is a new unit for me next week

Do you know what i never did It had a 3/4 used reel in as well. Now the fun starts though as they have said Friday for the replement.
