Ok so it's been years since I've used MIG, but I'm sure my last welder had no issue welding vertically. My new Kemppi Minarcmig just creates big drips when in auto mode and welding vertically! Photo is at 90 degrees but it shows what happens.
I turned down the settings and welded downwards rather than upwards and that helps things a lot but the weld is then very tall (as seen on top left of the piece of scrap).
Is this normal?
