Kemppi drips when welding upwards

Ok so it's been years since I've used MIG, but I'm sure my last welder had no issue welding vertically. My new Kemppi Minarcmig just creates big drips when in auto mode and welding vertically! Photo is at 90 degrees but it shows what happens.

I turned down the settings and welded downwards rather than upwards and that helps things a lot but the weld is then very tall (as seen on top left of the piece of scrap).

Is this normal?

Why are you welding uphill ? You only need to do it on 5mm or higher. It looks like your technique rather than a problem with the welder, angle and travel speed usually. The auto settings on Minarc are rather fast aimed at professional users, you could try manual settings and work out something more suited to your technique.

I suspect either your settings are off or you are traveling too slow.

There isn't a stone unturned on Jody's channel. This forum along with his channel have helped me learn loads about welding, things you think you know but just not quite sure to the totally oblivious
