Just had ao deliver 6ft fridge.

As per title, bit annoyed really they gave good customer service calling to say its on truck, and was it easy for driver to get truck in to off load etc etc.
then they ring and say they cant find me, we are house names not numbers etc so I go out see him then direct him and also stopping traffic so as to back in to the drive which is easy 14ft wide, he totally ignored me and pulled up on the kerb opposite then proceeded to walk the fridge out of the stack, corner to corner, I could hear the compressor banging about in its housing then it was lowered on the taillift on a sack truck and run off the side of the taillift at speed so you have 100mm of tail lift then 100mm of kerb it bounced down at least 200mm instead of using the ramp at the rear of the lift. he said where do you want it I said leave it there I will move it in a little more gently. Fridges are quite delicate bits of kit with thin capillary pipes etc and the harshness of its ride I was more than concerned as to the possible damage it may have received.
if they handle them like that in front of you how are they handled back at the hub ??

u must have been unlucky the guys that delivered my appliances from AO were great they unboxed them put them in the spaces very helpful and gentle, they had great straps that went over there wrists and under the fridge

AO are a brilliant firm to deal with but I think that itself has caused them problems, apart from their long term delivery agents they occasionally due to sales beyond expectations are having to employ other's that may not be as caring or experienced.

The good thing is any problems and they deal with them, a catch broke on the daughters hoover after 11 months, new hoover delivered and old one taken away 24 hours later.

Sorry to hear you had a bad experience, I have always found AO great. I would actually happily pay a bit more for the service, but they are often around the cheapest prices as well.

I had a similar experience with a washing machine and was lucky enough to spot the damage (albeit minor scratches / small dent) on one side before he tried to get through the front door with it.

Refused to accept the delivery on a point of principle, but the guy almost begged me to accept it saying a replacement would only take a couple of days and I might even get some ££ for the hassle. Still asked him to return it back to the truck.

He was right - I did get a replacement the next day, but at my convenience and handled very carefully by the TWO guys that turned up in a small delivery van. This was John Lewis in Bristol.

It's the hidden damage caused by bad handling that's always the concern in these matters.

Similar here with a replacement fridge for my mum, from AO.
Watched them bounce it out of the lorry, then the 2 grabbed it let fall onto a folded mattress.

They were upset and tried to tell me, as it is on the property we had excepted it, etc. Their face when I rang up the Customer care line and explained why I was not excepting it. I was told I needed to provide prove. The phone person voice and the delivery team face when I said Colour CCTV with sound. Would that be acceptable.

90 minutes later, from Curry/PC world new fridge, old one removed, handled with kid gloves and a 20% discount.

I was told AO sell and use delivery teams to dispatch and how good the team are is pot luck.

hen we had new neighbours this year AO turned up in a sign written van and were very professional.

Use the local company in Fraserburgh and they have always been top notch. A little more expensive than online normally but can normally deliver the same day, take away the old item, install the new one and go through how it works with you. And the guys are friendly and seem more than happy to do it all for you.

We us a local electronics place for years, family run. As you say you pay a bit extra, but you get a better service.

I'd demand a free extended guarantee at least otherwise tell them to collect and refund purchase price as you have no idea what sort of long term effects being handled so badly might cause.

Well I rang them and voiced my concern, then rang the manufacturers to ask their advice, they said nothing to do with us, I said I understand that the delivery is nothing to do with you BUT, I am ringing to ask what advice will you give me on the correct handling and whether to accept the item, if you are guaranteeing the item and if it has been handled roughly, by your sellers surely you would be interested, no not concerned!
well it is working, had not a lot of choice really we needed it up and running as food was going off.
hav'nt heard any more from them asked for a manager to ring me and they said they dont do that !

@normspanners - write a strongly worded letter, telephone monkeys aren't wasting time on, letter / email usually yields better results...
