Is there such a thing nowadays as just being a coded welder? Most engineering firms want you fabricating too
I never let on very much to be honest. That way they get what they pay for without any hastle. If the pay increase was that crap for fab I'd plead dumb and just weldThe pay is awful but its only like 30 p difference then the fabricators. I can do both but for 30 p more I'd prefer just to weld for the moment unless the monz gets a bit better
if you stay away from small fab shops
work on big projects ,power stations , offshore , windpower
there is thankfully still demarcation
in small fabshops the more you can do the more they will give you
thats ok if they pay you well
but some of the rates are shocking
they came up with mickey mouse training schemes
It doesn't full stop. I have seen plenty turn up and go home in a hour because they can't do the job but have a ticket to. Its pretty simple doing a 6g test but in reality the work is 5g 2 inches from the wall and 3 inches off the ground covered in crap. And anyone learning to walk the cup insta style is wasting there time and gas.Seems to be alot of people doing a few courses and then becoming" tradesmen" but how does a few courses cover the same as a 4 year apprenticeship
