Excuse for poor picture quality, but I found these tday when I tidy-ed the truck out, this was a job last year I had to travel to look at...... the job was probably one of the only iv turned down........ even watertight repairs on cargo holds looked better than this.......

They wanted it repaired in 6hrs!!!! just to add to the fun it had to be coded welded, then inspected, before being signed off by a marine savayour........ I did think it was achievable but we couldn't get an inspector out on a Sunday, so the job never came off......

There's also a story on how the cranes got in that state..

Id like to know where that picture was taken..... The crew gave the photos to me at Ipswitch(note the Russian date stamp)...Its certainly too sunny for England

Sure sounds like russia, they aren't very big on security and safety there

All the heaps are ex Soviet days.....mostly built by whats now Poland, all clones of each other and a good 30 years old...... Its amazing how bad they become before they request a welder to come aboard, Iv done leeks that are 1' long fractures, missing doors, ladders that have collapsed, a bridge that had a pack of steel through it and a snapped rudder pipe among a few, Its only when a port authority notices a problem and gives em a refusal to sail notice that theres a panic to sort the job, looking at the rust over those fractures it' wasn't something that had suddenly happened..

Its not just the Russians at it tho, there safety's good compared with Turkey, Greece, Africa, large parts of South America etc etc.
