I am going to job corps for 2 years of advanced training on mig,tig, and stick welding also learning various cuts. Anyway I. Have been investigating all the possible jobs I can get after I build a solid foundation. The field is so diverse idk what to focus on. Yea there are 3 diff types of weld, then hundreds of fields with individual requirements and specifications. How can I make sure I get the best out of my training to ensure when arriving on the job I can function at or above expectations?

What i've been told by my boss amongst others is just use common sense dont take any stupid risks. put in your best effort and treat every day like you're still training
it depends on what bits of paper you get as to what you are qualified to do. say coded welding. offshore welding. I don't know what they have equivelent to City&Guilds in the states..

I wouldn't worry about trying to get so specialist yet just get as much experience as you can build up a portfolio of what you have/ are doing so you have something to show anyone interviewing you (separate to your college portfolio or what ever you call it over there) as many bosses are not that interested in that (here any way) as its mainly just rubbish to pass the course. Then you can specialise when you find ajob but you can always show the good grounding you have to start with.
