Hi everyone, I'm newish to welding and am a sculptor who was looking to broaden horizons. Did some light welding work last year with a MIG and instantly fell in love, and after much humming and hawing I decided I wanted to practice the craft of welded sculpture.
I bought a Lincoln 115v MIG flux-cored welder (this model in particular: http://www.homedepot.ca/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/CatalogSearchResultView?D=900066&Ntt=900066&catalogId=10051&langId=-15&storeId=10051&Dx=mode+matchallpartial&Ntx=mode+matchall&recN=0&N=0&Ntk=P_PartNumber) so nothing fancy but enough for a beginner.
I've been doing some practice, but I've noticed when I pull the trigger while I get a weld, it's jumpy feeling. It wont weld smoothly. My first thought was the wire speed might be a little high, but I'm not all that sure. For example, I'll be set up, pull the trigger and even though I'm holding it still and keeping the trigger pulled it feels like it's skipping along the metal rather than a straight dragging line.
any input? I can't wait to be a seasoned welder, just gotta get through these first hiccups, eh?
