Judge my welding please

Hi everyone, I've been welding for a couple of years now, and whilst I by no means think I'm a pro, I keep getting people criticising it which I'm not sure is justified. One person has just commented on another forum that it's 'some of the worst I have ever seen'.

Is it really that bad? Because it seems no matter what technique I use to try and make it better, I still get comments saying how terrible it is.

I just wanted to get an opinion from people who I know have genuine experience, and some advice on how to make it better if it really is terrible.

Maybe your travel speed was a little too high on the manifold and wire speed just a little too fast, but if both sets work I don't see a problem at all...

The chassis welding looks fine, the fillet is perhaps a little on the large side but certainly nothing to be ashamed of there,

The manifold looks as if you have used a stop start technique, probably to get round the curve easier, the problem is that you have more chance of inclusions and the joint will be cold because you keep stopping, that method is fine on sheet metal to prevent blowing through, (see the thin metal technique in the tutorial), but you should be able to weld at least a third of the circumference of that pipe without stopping. certainly not the worst welding I've ever seen though.

TIG Paul you are very good sir! I did in fact use that technique on the manifold. I do know about the cold joins it can create, so I didn't leave a large amount of time between stopping and starting, and I used a kind of 'loop' motion, so that it might heat up where I had just been and fuse it better... Seemed strong enough and no air leaks as far as I could tell. But I do understand it is much better to do a continuous weld.

The welding all looks good to me! Some room for improvement in the ultimate tidyness stakes but as neat functional strong welds they look great!
