Joined the old Pillar Drill Club

A mate and I went and picked up this lovely old Elliott Pillar Drill, we pulled it apart so I could unload it by myself at the workshop. Got to love good quality old British machinery. The plan is to give it a lick of new paint and a spit and polish but nothing over the top.

Quick question; how glossy (semi-gloss, gloss etc) would the original paint have been?

Selling my rubbish Clarke bench drill to a colleague for £20, I feel guilty charging him that much but he thinks he's getting the deal of the century.

Yeah she runs lovely.

Another good thing is I've found a stash of excellent quality used machinery with some other stuff I want to buy. Need to sell some stuff first though to keep the mrs happy.

I have a 3kw Boost energy rotary converter, it works a treat. Will be spurring off that now and adding a few 3phase sockets round the workshop.

From what I can remember of the machinery in our workshop (circa 70's) the paintwork could never really be called glossy, more of a very flat satin sheen, I think a high gloss would spoil it personally.
